401k Plans
We offer open-architecture 401(k) plans through Fidelity Investments, America’s largest 401(k) provider. We offer open-architecture plans exclusively as we view them to be a superior option to more traditional plans. These plans are rapidly gaining in popularity because they offer participants the following benefits:
• More investment options (Mutual Funds, ETFs, Individual Stocks & Bonds)
• Greater Flexibility in choosing investment options
• Fund Choices with Lower expenses (17bps for index funds)
• Transparent disclosure of expenses
• Active Investment Management
• Daily account valuation
• Retirement Planning Tools (Calculators, ect.)
• 24/7 Account access

Business owners reap two key benefits by implementing an open-architecture plan. First, 12b-1 fees paid to the plan provider may be used to offset the adminstrative costs of the plan. This reduces the expense to the employer.

Second and perhaps the most significant benefit is shared fiduciary responsibility. Since the Enron collapse, 401(k)s have come under increased scrutiny – and for good reason. Previously, plans were primarily sold by brokers who had little to no fiduciary responsibility relative to the plan implemented; therefore, nearly all responsibility fell on company management. While our plans do not completely relieve management of its fiduciary responsibility to its employees, as advisors, we share the burden of responsibility. We are required to provide a plan that serves the best interest of the participants and our compensation structure is in harmony with this objective. All expenses are disclosed to the participants unlike traditional plans that often hide expenses.

Defined Benefit Plans
Defined Benefit Plans are losing market share to 401(k)s, but they can be very beneficial to niche groups of employers. If you a) have a limited number of employees and b) wish to defer amounts in excess of $50,000, it maybe a solution worth considering.

Retirement Plans for Small Businesses
We provide SEP-IRAs and Self-employed 401(k) plans (Also referred to as Solo 401(k)s) for individual business owners and SIMPLE IRA plans for companies with a limited number of employees (3-50).

SEP-IRA’s and solo-401(k)s allow business owners to contribute pre-tax earnings to a qualified plan. The assets will grow on a tax-deferred basis until distributions are taken. Depending on state law, assets in a retirement plan may be protected from creditors.

SIMPLE-IRAs are an effective means for smaller companies to provide their employees with retirement benefits without all the regulatory burden and expense of a 401(k). These plans are well suited for employers with fewer than 50 employees. Please call our office and speak to an advisor to help determine which of these will best suit your needs.

All of our plans are provided through Fidelity Investments. Participants will enjoy the following benefits:
• Active Investment Management
• Over 3000 Funds available commission free
• 24/7 Account Access
• Fidelity Retirement Planning Tools

Feel free to Contact Our Office to discuss which plan may be best suited for your company’s situation.
